Good, trustworthy people are out there though, and we can always use more classy friends, search and you will find us. Life is way too short to put up with bigots and idiots. If you do start getting harassed, file a petition and block the offenders from contacting you. If someone has a positive security rating it might indicate that they're a bit friendlier, although because people have multiple characters, still be very cautious at first. This is not to say that I've not met people with negative ratings who are trustworthy and/or nice and who have been helpful, but tread very carefully.

If you avoid them and look to play with people who are full of light, life and who are cool and fun ( in effect, the Jedi) you'll have a great time in the game, irrespective of the RL nature of the people who are behind the characters.įor a newbie, security status can be indicative of how inherently 'good' or 'bad' people are. You will find characters ( people) in Eve who are vile, nasty, prejudiced and sociopathic, I regard these people as the Sith. Like her I tend to play with people who are cool and that I have fun with.

I think the comment that I mostly empathise with is the one written by Evi Polevhia. Whilst it's true that I have, on occasion, come across some prejudiced attitudes in Eve chat channels, this is generally rare ( or at least people being silly enough to vocalise attitudes like this is). I think what's been said by several other people here, is, generally speaking, true of Eve, eg: that there is very little in the way of homo, bi or trans phobia. I think I probably understand the rationale of why you're asking this ( since I have quite a few friends who are on social media/play MMORPGs who are in the community and have experience online prejudice) and I guess it stems from looking for a supportive environment to have fun in. No one really cares who you are IRL or who you cuddle up with when you log out of the game. Just play the game and have fun and find others that you like playing with. If you flaunt hot button topics that can get you worked up with a simple phrase then that can and will be used against you in the heat of battle but not because anyone really cares one way or the other. If you are easily offended by words there are people in this game who will say what ever they think will get you flustered and loose your cool and make stupid moves in a fight. No one gives a crap what your sexual proclivities are unless it grants them some type of upper hand in game. You are just another pilot to shoot at or fly with. Who you are in real life and who you are in game need not have any similarity to each other.įurther like has already been said in Eve you are not special. I bet there are strait people pretending to be gay and gay people pretending to be strait. There are men that play as if they are women and I'm sure there are women pretending to be men.

There are people that IRL are some of the nicest people that you will meet and in this game are low down filthy pirates. The sooner that you let go of all the titles that have been placed on you by yourself or by others IRL the sooner you can enjoy this game.įirstly this is an RPG (Role Playing Game) and as such the character that you play in game and who you are in real life can often be polar opposites. I just want to second what has been said here already. If you do any or all of the above (hint: none of them are mutually exclusive) enough times and talk to the people who blast you to pieces (hint: ask them questions on how you can improve) you may be invited to fly with them. Join a Merc alliance and learn from people with lots of experience. Build a good amount of currency, research some ships you want to try attacking other players in (hint: stick with small, cheap stuff), move it close to low-security space (0.4 to 0.1 systems), fit everything up, and blitz through low-sec. Basically you become an "old school" privateer and play capture the flag for star system control.

This question will decide where you will go hunting for people who have a similar game mentality and/or general community you wish to join.ĭo you want to get involved primarily with PvP?

So here is the question of the day OP what do you want to do? the smaller, more "cozy" corporations do not advertise themselves. Does anyone know of a smaller group around 20 to 50 members or so?
